Edo CP Reaffirms Readiness To Reduce Crime
BENIN CITY – Edo Statetate Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Kokumo said his vision is to serve the people and to ensure crime is reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
CP Kokumo made this known during the commissioning of additional Office Block at the New Etete Police Division, Off Sapele road, Benin City, yesterday.
He acknowledged the support of the state government to his command noting that police can not function efficiently without synergy with sisters security agencies and members of the public.
The police boss commended the various stakeholders including the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) within the division for their support towards the project just as he reiterated his stance against corruption and indolence amongst officers and men of the command.
Earlier in his address, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Etete Police Station, SP Solomon Adeleye said the force was established to fight crime and criminality in the society irrespective of tribe, color or social affiliation.
“Crime is our common enemy and the only way to win against criminals is solidarity and synergy between the police and the public whom we are called to serve”, SP Adeleye added.
SP Adeleye however listed some challenges faced by the division in discharge of its duties to include inadequate serviceable vehicles and shortage of manpower.
He, however commended officers and men of New Etete Police Division for their relentless efforts in crime bursting and control.
