Vandals threw red paint on statues of Christopher Columbus in San Francisco and Providence, Rhode Island, on Monday, the US federal holiday honoring the Italian explorer.   1. This is disgusting. Christopher Columbus did a lot for this nation. People need to calm down. On Columbus Day we celebrate the voyage of human curiosity, exploration, and our culture.
