The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government has announced her preparedness to host the 2nd Edition of the Oba Ewuare II Cultural Dance and Governor’s Cup Competition in Benin City, Edo State

The event which aims to develop students cultural, psychomotor and behavioural domains as well as discover and nurture talents in sports is part of the Osayande-led administration’s policy for culture and sports development at the grass-root

Recall that at about this time last year, the 1st Edition held in Benin City in which the 1st place winner in football has been enlisted for the Channels Cup

According to an online statement released by the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee of the event, Hon. Diamond Ogieriakhi on Friday 26 April 2019, thirty five (35) Secondary Schools has so far enlisted in the Culture and Sports programme scheduled to commence on May 6, 2019

The schools are: St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School, Classic Secondary School, St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Agbonmoba Secondary School, Idogbo Secondary School, Itohan Girls Grammar School, Eagle Education Centre, Queen Ede Secondary School, Standard Secondary School, and Umelu Secondary School; others are: Osemwende Secondary School, Gracious Secondary School, Army Day Secondary School, Uroha Secondary School, Ozolua Secondary School, Ogunbor Secondary School, Patricia Secondary School, Danosa Secondary School and Bethel Faith Secondary School

The statement further revealed that Libra Secondary School, Praise Christian Academy, Igho Group of Schools, Usiomo Group of Schools, Duke Royal Academy, Hills Secondary School, Niger College, Igbinedion Education Centre, Bright Star Academy, Harvard Secondary School, Uteh Secondary School, Bowe High School, Success Secondary School, Ebe Foundation, Oka Secondary School and Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria Secondary School has also acquired forms to participate in the competition

While appreciating multinational companies, individuals who have committed to support the event, the LOC Chairman however called on more schools to visit the Council Secretariat at Idogbo on Monday to secure participation forms

He disclosed that the grand finale of the Oba Ewuare II Cultural Dance and Governor’s Cup competition will hold on May 22nd, 2019 during which a keynote address will be delivered by Chief Johnson Usen JP, the Osa of Benin
