At least 168 of the 11,000 Olympians competing in Tokyo are openly LGBTQ, according to the SB Nation blog Outsports. That’s fewer than 2% of all athletes competing in Tokyo. Experts say there is still more to be done to be more inclusive in sports.

  1. I think that’s low cause you’re not taking into consideration the people who aren’t out, and the people from countries where that’s illegal, number makes more sense with that in mind, although it should be higher

  2. That makes no sense who cares if they are or not? The best man for the job should get the opportunity

  3. 😂😂OMG,!! Really?😂😂 SWEET JESUS!! I’m thinking maybe we all know about this by now!!

  4. I mean I’m sure it’s no correlation but we are also having one of the worst Olympics ever. I think the Olympics are about us and too much now is all about me. You are seeing it play out daily. Why does everything have to be a protest or a statement?

  5. Correction… there are more LGBTQA athletes competing in the games that FINALLY feel safe enough to let the world know it.
