Boom Supersonic wants to build an aircraft that can go “anywhere in the world in four hours for 100 bucks,” according to CEO Blake Scholl. While the American startup may be decades away from accomplishing this goal, it has developed a Mach 2.2 airplane that it says will be more than twice as fast as today’s commercial jets. Scholl said the company plans to get it in the air by 2026.
