California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that teachers and other school employees must either show proof of full vaccination or be tested at least once a week. The order will take effect Thursday and schools must be in full compliance by October 15, according to the statement.⁠

  1. This is good, it doesn’t force people into getting the vaccine and helps stop the spread of COVID in schools

  2. They don’t pay teachers enough as is, now they are imposing vaccines or regular testing on them…. I assume the testing cost will fall on the teacher. This is all announced now as soon as school starts? Why not before so they had a heads up before going back to work. It is hard to get good teachers and now the ones they have will leave the field and find a better job without having to jump through hoops.

  3. This is a good decision; however, with vaccinated people still having the possibility of catching and transmitting the virus, shouldn’t they take a weekly test as well? Especially, since children under 12 are not eligible to receive the shot
