Democratic Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed a bill Wednesday that will automatically restore the voting rights of people convicted of a felony once they are released from prison, even if they are still under community supervision. This will restore voting rights to more than 20,000 people in the state, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. The new law makes Washington one of a few Democratic states that have moved to expand voting access in stark contrast to the Republican rush in statehouses across the country to make voting more difficult.

  1. This is the right thing to do. After they’ve paid their debts to society, formerly incarcerated people should be able to exercise their right to vote. 🗳

  2. Pay your debt to society and you should be allowed to vote for nonviolent crimes 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

  3. Prisoners in general should be allowed to vote, they are people too. What are they gonna do, vote in a convict?

  4. At the end of the day.. no matter how you twist it, they are still American Citizens once they are released who should have the American Right to Vote.

  5. When the prison service is provatised and people make money out of it, its never a good thing. Plus once you have done your time you should be able to vote. It’s pretty simple. PS: Socialism Does not mean communism. Love from across the pond 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙🇺🇸

  6. Georgia been having this and still allows felons to vote, this isn’t new. Also Washington requires ID to vote like it should. Why ppl attack Georgia for same laws!? Ppl really don’t research anything these days except read phony headlines 🤦🏻‍♂️

  7. I can definitely support this. If punishment is served why not restore rights to the I individual.
