Today, 31st May, 2019 at the High Court of Justice, Benin City, Edo
State, following the action instituted by Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror (Deputy Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly), against Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto (Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly), Edo State House of
Assembly, Edo State House of Assembly Commission, challenging his
purported unlawful, shaddy, unceremonial, impeachment and suspension as the Deputy Speaker and member of the Edo State House of Assembly.

Hon. Justice Okungbowa of the Edo State High Court delivered judgment declaring the purported impeachment and suspension of Rt. Hon. Edoror as Deputy Speaker and member of the EDHA unlawful and unconstitutional.

In its well considered judgment, the Court held that the purported impeachment and
suspension of Rt. Hon. Edoror was in utter disregard for the requisite and
unambiguous provisions of Section 92 (2) (C) of the constitution of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.

The Court then ordered the defendants to restore Rt. Hon. Victor Sabor Edoror to his position as Deputy Speaker, EDHA with his full rights, privileges and all emoluments.

It will be recalled that on the 22nd of October, 2018, the Speaker of the 6th Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto along with three others
including Hon. Roland Asoro, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, and Hon. Emmanuel
Agbaje in a kangaroo impeachment, purportedly claimed to have impeached and suspended the Deputy Speaker, EDHA Rt. Hon. Victor
Edoror and since then Hon. Edoror has not been paid his salaries, including all his emoluments.

Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror was however not present in Court due to other commitments outside the State and only returned later in the day after the judgment had been delivered.

While speaking with a team of Journalists at the
Benin Airport on his return, he said thus; “…what happened is a sure hope for
the common man. When my so called impeachment, the kangaroo impeachment came up months ago, I resolved not to take the laws into
my hands; so, I decided to approach a court of competent jurisdiction. Thank God today, the case has finally been decided in my
favour…”. Edoror added that; “… I learnt that aside the pronouncement
of the court that their action was null and void and that all my entitlements as a Deputy Speaker Edo State House of Assembly be given
to me, the court also gave them an order restraining them from taking any further action against me. I have dedicated this victory to God
and to the people I represent at the Edo State House of Assembly…”.

Edoror also used the opportunity to warn all those that see impunity as a way of life and base of operation to have a rethink. He also
advised the people of his constituency to be resolute and resilient saying he will never betray them as a Freedom Fighter.

Rt. Hon. Edoror the first representative from Edo Central to represent a constituency for three consecutive times, the first representative
in Edo Central who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC and still kicking and making waves
in the legislative business, said the will of the people has kept him this far; therefore, he will never allow anybody to intimidate him, or
shortchange the people that sent him to represent them.
