Edo Speaker Commends EYM, Promises to intervene to reopen closed factories, provide teachers for schools

Benin City 20th September, 2019

The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye has commended the Esan Youths Movement (EYM) for her developmental projects and drives in Esanland most especially for her recently concluded Science Quiz Competition for Schools.

He gave this commendation in Benin City, the Edo State Capital when the executive council of the movement paid him a working visit in his office in Chief Anthony Enahoro Complex.

The Esan Youths Movement’s Executive Council led by her National President Comrade Kingsley Ohens presented a detailed speech to the speaker with focus on the forthcoming Edo Central Sports Festival For Schools, call for the reopening of closed industries in Esanland and concern on the non-availability of teachers in public secondary schools in the region.

The speaker thanked EYM for the working visit and commended EYM for being a unifying body in Esanland.

He also commended EYM for its activities so far especially on the success of the recent Esan Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition. He also appreciated the recommendation by EYM on the state of public schools and said the governor being a man who believe in education is doing everything possible to remedy it.

The House of Assembly on their part will make laws that will make things work for good.

On the Edo Central Sport Festival tagged the Esan Olympics Games 2019, he said “sport is a unifying activities that brings people together irrespective of your tribe, religion, academic background etc. He went further to say that sports is now a lucrative endeavour and must be encouraged. He said the house will support the movement on the programme”.

On EYM call for the reopening of the moribund industries in Esanland, he said “the house is working on laws that will guide the sustainability of industries in state.

Those that are down, the house is planning on how to bring them back, privatize the ones that need to be privatized and eject funds into those that need to”, he stated.

On EWU Flour Mill , the speaker said “though the world class factory is now a private company, the government will call the new owners and ask them about the issues why the firm has not started. Government Will also encourage them and create a friendly environment for them to operate”, he assured.

On Ekpoma Rice Mill and Farm Settlement, he said the State Government has concluded plans for massive rice production and other farm produce.

In conclusion, he advised EYM to always be peaceful in her agitations and ensure to promote unity and peaceful coexistence always.
