The State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this during the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Taskforce, chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

Noting the need to be cautious and ensure compliance with the state’s preventive protocols, the Incident Manager, said: “While the government steps up efforts to contain the pandemic, we urge everyone to complement the government’s efforts at containing the pandemic and preventing a third wave of the virus by taking responsibility and adhering to guidelines to curtail the spread of the virus across all our communities.

“You must continue to wear your facemask when in public; wash your hands regularly under running water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers and observe social distancing,” he charged.

Obi said active case search, decontamination of homes and offices of infected persons, contact tracing and line listing activities, enforcement of the state’s COVID-19 preventive protocols and the vaccination of eligible members of the public, among other activities to contain the second wave of the pandemic are still ongoing.

According to him, “Edo, in the last 24 hours, collected 21 samples and recorded one new case, zero recoveries and no COVID-19 related deaths.”

He further charged residents with COVID-19 symptoms to contact the Edo Emergency Operation Centre on this toll-free number: 08003625000 for assistance.
