EDOCSO, REPRESENTATIVES OF ONDO, EKITI AND DELTA STATES INTERFACE WITH NERC IN ABUJA ON BEDC INCOMPETENCE:

EDOCSO, REPRESENTATIVES OF ONDO, EKITI AND DELTA STATES INTERFACE WITH NERC IN ABUJA ON BEDC INCOMPETENCE:

…seek an end to BEDC terror in franchise states.

…estimated billing to end soon.

As a follow up to the protests by civil society groups, customers and residents of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) franchise states in November, 2018 in Abuja, another round of meeting was held on the 2nd of April, 2019 in the National Headquarters of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) in Abuja.

It has been sounded loud and clear over and over again of the high level of incompetence, ineptitude, wickedness and highhandedness exhibited by the Funke Osibudu led management of the BEDC since takeover on November, 2013 upon privatisation of the power sector.

These are manifest in the incessant protests by communities, the faceoff between the Edo state governor leading to the governor sending the MD and her team out of his office, civil society groups protests and condemnation of poor services, ill-concieved court case against EDOCSO, communities and youth groups in Edo and Delta states to the effect of seeking a laughable perpetual injunction restraining the aforementioned from protesting against their poor service delivery and lastly the submission of the Oba of Benin on the visit of President Mohammadu Buhari in Benin seeking the non renewal of BEDC licence for lack of competence and sundry issues.

The discussion with the NERC commissioners led by Professor Momoh was robust and promising, tactically aimed at the protection of the customers from further exploitation and wicked business practices by the BEDC on customers.

Very soon, the issue of estimated billing will be over based on plans to be put in place by NERC in collaboration with the civil society and other critical stakeholders. Funke Osibudu and her management team cannot exceed this year in their failure to improve services since they have devoted their energy on exploitation and extortion of customers.

The meeting with other key personalities and institutions in Abuja continues.

Victory will emerge for all of us at the end of the day and Funke Osibudu’s wicked grip on Edo, Ekiti, Ondo and Delta states will soon come to an end. Power belongs to the people.
