PDP leaders in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo state, over the weekend described the emergence of Engr Gideon Ikhine, one of the PDP governorship aspirants as an act of God.
The visibly elated leaders were full of praises for Engr Ikhine when he paid unscheduled visits to some them in their homes.

Welcoming the foremost aspirant to Esan Central LGA, the Deputy Leader (Most Snr Evangelist Adekule Oboh) on behalf of the Leader Senator Clifford Ordia who was unavoidably absent assured him of their total support, Most Senior Evangelist Adekunle Oboh who is also The PDP state Financial Secretary, likened Engr Gideon Ikhine to the biblical Gideon who rose to lead the Israelites out of bandage in a critical period when all hopes were lost.
Most of the leaders expressed joy that a governorship aspirant would deem it fit to come down to the grassroot to ask for their support. According to them, the normal practice was for governorship aspirants to rely on the endorsement of Super Leader(s) to get the ticket.
With the actions of Engr Gideon Ikhine coming over to their various Wards, demonstrate that the Aspirant understanding of democracy, which means “returning power back to the people” in the spirit of PDP. They praised the steadfastness of Engr Ikhine for not abandoning the party over the years and for his continuous support.
On his part, Engr Gideon Ikhine called on the people to have faith in the PDP. He assured the people that the days of the party being in opposition in Edo state will come to an end with his nomination as the governorship candidate. He said that his administration, when elected will focus on infrastructure development that will open up Edo State.
The people of Esan will not be left out in such developments that will see the rebirth of Ugbalo water works and creation of job opportunities for the people.
He told the leaders that he is currently on sensitization visits of stakeholders across the state concerning his ambition to fly the PDP flag in the Edo state 2020 governorship election.
The leaders offered prayers for the success of Engr Gideon Ikhine and pledged their support towards the mission.
Engr Gideon Ikhine was accompanied by some leaders from Edo Central Senatorial District.
