EWU, IRRUA, IDOA MONARCHS TASK NIGERIAN LEADERS – Nigerian Observer


EWU – Some Muslim Traditional Rulers in Edo Central Senatorial District have called on leaders of the country to rise up to the challenges bedevilling the nation in order to restore, happiness, unity, patriotism and sence of belonging.

The monarchs of Ewu and Irrua Kingdoms, both in Esan Central Local Government Area, HRH Abdulrasaq Isesele Ojiefoh and HRH William Momodu ll respectively, and that of Idoa in Esan West Local Government Area, HRH Momoh Amedu, Esan West Local Government Area, made the call while speaking during the Eid-al-fitr Celebrations in their various domains.

The Onogie of Ewu, HRH Alhaji Abdulrasaq Isesele Ojeifoh who regretted that the country was in a turbulent period, urged the leaders of the country to do all that is required and necessary to address the problems of the country.

He called on all Nigerians to unite to find a lasting solutions to the country’s problems, rather than heating up the polity, cautioning that war would not do anybody any good.

“We are in a turbulent period in the history of this nation. I have always maintained that we do not have any other country to call our own. So we should be able to come together and find a lasting solution the problems. War will not benefit anybody.

“If we are able to come together and tell ourselves the truth as Nigerians, I think this country will move forward; and the issue of insecurity will be minimized”, he stated.

The Onogie of Irrua, HRH William Momodu on his part lamented that the situation in the country negatively impacted the Eid-al-fitr Celebration, as unhappiness due to the harsh economic situation changed the complexion of the feast.

” We are happy celebrating the successful conclusion of the Ramadan Fast (Eid-al-fitr). But the happiness is not full because of the situation in the country. There is hunger, unemployment, and workers are not paid.

” Even we traditional rulers are affected, because the normal allowance we get from the council are not paid. So our leaders should sit-up so that the people will be happier”, he charged.

The Onogie of Idoa, Esan West Local Government Area, HRH Momoh Amedu lamented the high level of insecurity in the country, but expressed optimism that the country will overcome it.

“The simple truth is that our leaders should be sincere and truthful. We should be truthful to one another. When you see somebody crying, you need to find out the situation with that person. That way, the various agitations would fade away naturally”, he said.

Speaking on the Eid-al-fitr celebration, the traditional rulers expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to witness the celebration, and prayed God to sustain them to see next one.
