Ewu Progress Foundation Presents two bikes to Vigilantes, Neighbourhood watch to combat crime in Ewu

In an effort to combat crime in Ewu Kingdom, the Ewu Progress Foundation (EPF) yesterday presented 2 new bikes to the joint task force of Vigilantes and Neighbourhood Watch.

The presentation took place at the Royal Palace at Eguare Ewu. Present at the event are: Reverend Albert Oboh, Member EPF Board of Trustees, Comrade Farouk Ehimegbe, Mr Ehimare Oboh, Commandant Edo Central Neighbourhood Watch, representatives of Ewu Youth Coalition, Chairman of Elukhide Social Cultural Group, Ukordion of Idunwele Community Mr Pius Ikhisemojie and others.

After the customary breaking of Kolanut, the Onogie Of Ewu, HRH Bar. Rasaki Ojiefo III called on EPF representative, Rev Oboh to make his speech. Some highlights of his speech were, appreciation to the highness for his fatherly support to EPF since inception, appreciation to Elukhide and EYC for their efforts in the time past and a notice to them of our determination to be the foremost developmental body in Ewu land henceforth.

Rev Albert Oboh went further to state why and how EPF bought the Bikes, which is overall security of Eilu land against all forms of criminality.

The opportunity was used to invite all present to attend the grand finale of Ewu United Football Tournament where our highness shall be inducted as a National Patron of Nigeria Football Supporters Club. This elicited a wide applause and all promised to attend.

Responding, the chiefs praised the effort of EPF and pleaded that we strive more through reachout to sons and daughters of Eilu land for operational vehicle for the police station.

His highness heaped praises on EPF, saying they have amazed him in their strive for Ewu development. He went memory lane to enumerate the laudable things EPF have done.
He also used the occasion to appeal to Idunwele community to provide a parking space for the police station in order to clear the road of accident vehicles that are parked on both sides of the road. This he did based on the earlier request of our president when he led EPF delegations on the aftermath of Mrs Dele’s kidnapped saga. He promised to do his best in encouraging people to provide a vehicle for the police station. As a mark of appreciation to EPF. The Highness promised to provide N5000 each for the Bikes maintenance on monthly basis.

EYC president, Hon Inegbe promised to use his office to mobilize Dantata Construction Company to the police station if a parking space is provided in the shortest time. He advised that some vigilante members that were removed from Ehanlen should be readded.

Elukhide president, Pa Idiata gave a lecture on security and how the Bikes can be put to proper use. Pa Idiata is a retired police officer. He also used the opportunity to invite all to his 80 years bight day celebrations coming up on the 5th of May.

The Vigilante group chairman, Mr Abraham Ikhisemojie aka Koko thank EPF for the good gesture and promised on behalf of his group to work assiduously for the security of Ewu land.

On his part, the commander of Neighborhood watch, Mr Ehimare Oboh, who is also a member of EPF security committee thank EPF for their good work. He used the opportunity to announce that if care is not taking, the Fulani’s that were arrested and taken to Benin might be released if Mrs Dele continue to refuse writing a statement. He appeal to the highness to work on this. Assistance in the form of stipend for the security groups was solicited for, saying that since the coming on board of the present local government chairman, what they were getting from the Council have stopped.

The bikes were thereafter handed over to the two bodies. Suffices to note that Vigilante group from Jagbe was also represented.
