Ewu Progress Foundation tasks Nigerians to invest in knowledge as it joins the rest of the world to mark World Book Day – by Osajele Godsent Jomo

As part of its activities to mark World Book Day, the Ewu Progress Foundation (EPF) has tasked the members of the public to invest in books and other educational endeavours and move the Nation forward.

Speaking to newsmen in Ewu, Edo State, in a keynote address also published online, the President of Ewu Progress Foundation, Engr. Fidelis Edokpa eulogised the importance and value of books to a developing society.

According to him, “the choice of 2019 World Book Day celebration by Ewu Progress Foundation is a testament that EPF is poised towards redefining mindsets and building a sustainable society via learning. We quite agree with Nelson Mandela when he said, ‘education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world’.”

He further said that, “education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Develop a passion for learning. Education is the key to unlocking the golden door of freedom.”

Engr Fidelis Edokpa also used the medium to congratulate everyone of us (EPF Stakeholders, books donors and compatriots) who have since keyed into this noble initiative of donating books to the Ewu Library/ICT Centre, managed by EPF.

“Be rest assured that the story of the next generation will be incomplete without you because you truly helped to lay this very solid foundation for a better society,” Fidelis Edokpa added.

He concluded the key note address by imploring members of the public to donate at least a book to the Ewu Library.
