EYM Sponsored Science Quiz Competition Completes First Stage, As Titans prepare to lock horns in grand finale

The much talked about Edo Central Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition organised by Esan Youths Movement has completed the LGA stage level with15 schools drawn across the 5 LGAs qualifying for the grand finale scheduled for next week, 5th day of July, 2019 at Idunwele Girls Secondary School Ewu.

This was revealed to esan.tv by the Project Director, Mr Osajele Godsent Jomo at Esan Youths Movement Secretariat in Ekpoma. Mr Jomo said the LGA event was a huge success. He gave credit of the successful hosting of the event to the able EYM Coordinators and Quiz Officials who coordinated the event simultaneously in all the 5 centers in Esanland.

According to him “results filled in from the centers pointed to the competitive nature of the event.

In Esan North East LGA, Federal Science and Technical College, Onewa Uromi emerged first position followed by Lumen Christi Secondary School (second) and Esan Grammar School, Uromi (third position).

In Esan South East LGA, Sacred Heart Girls Model Secondary School, Ubiaja emerged first position, St Francis College (second) and Okhuaesan Secondary School emerged third position.

In Igueben LGA, Igueben Grammar School emerged first position followed by Igueben College as second position while Ugun Secondary School emerged third place.

In Esan West LGA, Mount Carmel Group of Schools Ekpoma emerged first position, followed by Don Bosco Science Academy Ukhun as second position while Faith Academy took third position.

In Esan Central LGA, Annunciation Catholic College, Irrua took first, followed by Shaka Momodu Memorial College, Irrua as second while Ideal Secondary School Irrua took third position.” he revealed.

“the stage is now set for the Titans school numbering 15 to lock horns at the historic grand finale schedule to hold on the 5th day of July 2019 at Idunwele Girls Secondary School Ewu.

Three winners are to emerge to lift the cup and prizes.

On his part, the president of Esan Youths Movement, Comrade Kingsley Ohens expressed great joy over the success of the event. He told newsmen in Ekpoma that he is impressed with the organizational expertise of the quiz officials at the various centers he visited during the event. According to him “the coordinators did a good job and the turn up and the zeal of students was encouraging.”

Comrade Ohens however called on the state government to improve the facilitates of the Schools in Edo Central (Esan Land). “For example, many schools in the interiors did not participate because of lack of means of transportation. Improving education in Edo Central is not all about buildings but also about providing school buses to schools to aid student social and academic activities” he said.

Comrade Ohens used the medium to thank all members of EYM and stakeholders for making the event a success through donations.
