Florida A&M University students got a welcome surprise when the university announced it would be paying off student financial balances for the 2020-2021 school year. More than 20 historically Black colleges and universities have forgiven student debt using funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. The schools have paid more than $25 million in student debt.

  1. β€œPaying off balances” on the student accounts is NOT the same as debt forgiveness. Stop celebrating this BS. The school decided to not hold degrees hostage to those that had unpaid balances. It has done (and will do squat) for those crippled by student loans they took out to pay those balances.
