_Promise palliative measures_

   _Call On External Agencies For Assistance_ 

The Executive Chairman, Igueben Local Government, Hon (Bldr) Dr. Josie Ogedegbe (JP) MNIOB, inspected some flooded communities in Igueben on Wednesday to have first hand information on the extent of the havoc caused by the rain. He was closed to tears seeing the extent of the damage the flood caused across some parts of the communities. He was however quick to promise the victims of the flood of his government intervention in providing palliative measures to enable them recover quickly directing the Works, Environment and Social Heads of department respectively to give urgent attention. “We went round to see the effects of the rain and attendance flooding in Igueben town and it’s something we need to declare emergency for. It’s disastrous in some areas and we are not happy about it. We are going to table with the professionals to come out with an urgent plan. In the next 24hours we will know what to do.” he said.

Hon. Ogedegbe, who was overwhelmed by the effect of the flood equally called on external agencies to lend a helping hand to ensure the victims are properly taken care of as well as preventing reocurence of the ugly situation. “We are also going to involve the state through the State Ministry of Environment, State Emergency Relieve Agency and we will also inform the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA to seek permanent solutions.” He added.

The council boss was accompanied by the members of the Executive Council, Igueben LG legislative arm, management and special assistants. Some of the areas visited were Oyomo, Union bank Junction, Eguare Primary School Igueben, Afuda Community Igueben, Council Road, Idumogo community Igueben etc.
