Be Proactive And Punctual: Hon Ogedegbe Charges.

The Igueben Local Government Secretariat yesterday was agog as the earlier dissolved volunteer teachers in the area were reorganized and reconstituted.

Speaking at the meeting the Executive Chairman, Igueben Local Government, Hon (Bldr) Dr. Josie Ogedegbe (JP) KSJI MNIOB, charged them to be proactive and punctual to their duties for any dereliction shall involve sanctions.

Hon. Ogedegbe, remarked the non availability of teachers in secondary schools in the Local Government Area (LGA) to teach science and art subjects. He said the Local Government has decided to assist because the secondary school students in the LGA will be writing the same Senior School Certificate Examination SSCE with those in Lagos, Abuja, Benin etc. and govts at different levels are to compliment each other. Hence the students also need to be equipped academically, morally and socially so as to compete with their countaparts in urban areas.

It will be recalled that the 99 volunteer teachers were last week dissolved due to some discrepancies in the system. Pointing that some of the volunteer teachers were also beneficiaries of youth empowerment scheme (NPower) sponsored by the Federal and State governments. Some do not have the certificate they claimed they had and even some were not from Igueben LGA.

The screening exercise was attended by School Principals and Political Leaders in the LGA. The newly sixty nine (69) recruited Volunteer Teachers expressed their joy over the gesture and thanked Hon Josie for his life touching policies.

Those presents included APC LGA Chairman, Mr Odia Sylvester, The immediate past Chairman of the Party in the LGA, Mr Sunday Iredia, Secondary School Principals, members of the LG Executive Council amongst others.
