Council to renovate Igueben magistrate court.

The Executive Chairman Igueben Local Government, Hon (Bldr) Dr. Josie Ogedegbe (JP) MNIOB, made this known at the official commissioning of the newly built Igueben customary court built by the former Speaker Edo state House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon Dr. Justin Okonoboh as constituency project.

While recounting his achievements so far, the 2018 Edo State Award Winning Chairman said, the council has inuagurated the Council Civic Center that was abandoned for years. Also, he has commenced the payment of outstanding rent on the current customary court which operates from a rented apartment.

Hon Ogedegbe further appreciated Hon Dr. Justin Okonoboh for the court building. He also appreciated the Edo State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Esohe Ikponmwen, for coming to commission the project.

The Chief Judge of Edo State, Hon. Justice Esohe Ikponmwen, who was physically present to commission the two newly built customary courts in Ekpon and Igueben, in her remarks, appreciated the facilitator and said that politicians need to think out of the box in order to develop their respective societies.

HRH, the Onojie Of Igueben commended Dr. Okonoboh and said the project is a welcome development. He equally appealed to the local government to ensure immediate and proper use of the building.

Dr. Okonoboh, who spoke said that it became necessary for him to embark on the project since the customary court was approved and was operating from a rented apartment. The former speaker said that the courts will intensify the activities of the judiciary in the local government area.

In further response, Hon Josie Ogedegbe, assured the Chief Judge that the council will provide furniture. He also revealed that, plans are already on to renovate the already dilapidated Igueben magistrate court. Furthermore, he said, Igueben local government is a peaceful area and the citizens are law abiding.

An Award was also presented to the facilitator, Hon Dr. Justin Okonoboh, by the President of Esan Youths for Good Governance, Comrade Benson Odia.

The event which attracted dignitaries like, Wife of the facilitator, Mrs Betty Okonoboh, Chairman Igueben Progressive Union, Mr Hillary Ekhoye, political leaders, Igueben Council Of Chiefs, Members of Igueben Local Government Legislative Council, Members Of Igueben Local Government Executive Council, Youth Groups amongst others.
