Lumen Christi High School lifts the first prize trophy in Ewu

The grand Finale of Edo Central Science and Mathematics Quiz Competition took place yesterday at Idunwele Girls Secondary School, Ewu with Lumen Christi International School, Uromi emerging first position thus lifting the main trophy and the first cash prize.

Mount Carmel Group of Schools, Ekpoma emerged second position while Don Bosco Science Academy Ukhun emerged third position.

However all the 12 participating schools went home with consolations prizes which include set of science text books and token logistics.

The trophies and prizes were awarded by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Science and Technology Mrs Birgitta Okoduwa ably represented by the Director of Science and Technology Education Mr Ukpebor Jonathan.

In her speech, Mrs Okoduwa commended EYM for the initiative and zeal to host the maiden edition and promise to always support EYM initiative in promoting education in Edo Central.

Other dignitaries present at the grand finale include Senator Clifford Ordia represented by Hon. Tony Abumere Okonigene who in his speech apologized on behalf of the senator for not being able to be physically present. He however vowed to sponsor the winners of the first prize on a sponsored tour of the National Assembly. The senator also promised to sponsor the emerging winners to the National Quiz Competition.

Other dignitaries at the event include Amb. Amos Areloegbe, the donor of the trophies, Prince Shaka Momodu, the proprietor of Shaka Memorial College, Chief Osiri Sadoh, Elder Peter Imhaseloeva (JP) amongst others.

Comrade Kingsley Ohens specially thanked the dignitaries, coordinators and all EYM members worldwide for believing and supporting the project from the beginning to the end. Ohens however promised to push the dream further in future by incorporating exposition of science and technological invention by students in future edition.

Ohens stated that the event is an eye opener which has exposed the lapses in our public school system which EYM has vowed to remedy.
