Martin Gugino, the 75-year-old protester who was knocked to the ground by police officers last year in Buffalo, New York, filed a civil lawsuit against the city Monday, according to court documents. Gugino is also suing the Buffalo mayor, three officers, the police commissioner and the deputy police commissioner, according to the document. Gugino, who fractured his skull when he fell, is accusing the defendants of violating his constitutional rights, specifically his rights to freedom of speech, peaceful assembly, protest, movement, unreasonable seizures, freedom from the unlawful use of force by government agents, and due process of law, according to his lawsuit. CNN has reached out to the mayor’s office and Buffalo Police Department for comment on the lawsuit.

  1. Sad part was the police just walk by like nothing happened like it was a normal thing. The fact the military had to come to help him. Smh 🤦🏽‍♂️ tells you some police officers in the force don’t give one shit..

  2. If AG and law enforcement won’t take responsibility , they are additionally to blame for the civil suits as well. One of the officers attempted to render aide and was pushed ahead by another officer. We all watched in real time
