National Assembly Versus Edo Assembly: EYM sue for peace, says no development without peace.

The Esan Youths Movement (EYM), the apex socio-cultural development organisation of all Esan people of South South geo-political zone of Nigeria, has called for peace in the ongoing political upheavals in the Edo State House of Assembly which has placed the Edo Assembly at loggerheads with the National Assembly. The later instructing the Inspector General of Police to shut down the Anthony Enaholo Complex in its readiness to take over the state assembling if Governor Obaseki fail to issue a new proclamation letter for the Assembly’s inauguration.

EYM it its neutral stand made this peace recommendation recently in Ekpoma the national Secretariat of the movement. In a statement addressed to the National Assembly, Edo State House of Assembly also copied to the state government and signed by the National President Comrade Ohens Kingsley, EYM call for a peaceful resolution of the crises noting that development does not take place in a situation of crises.

Comrade Ohens on behalf of the over 50,000 members of EYM worldwide called on all the parties to the crises to sheath their swords and sue for peace in the interest of Edo people and the nation at large.

According to the EYM president, the entire nation is already enmeshed in various crises ranging from Boko Haram Issues, killer Herdsmen, suicide, kidnapping to issues of hunger and starvation.

The National and State Assemblies should focus on how to find solutions to these lingering issues facing the country rather than flexing political muscle among themselves over an infinitesimal issues than can be settled amicably for peace to reign.
