Opoji People Converges at Royal Palace to chart ways forward for community development as ISTH establishes an annex in community

The Sons and Daughters of Opoji Community in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State today converged at the Royal Palace of the Onogie of the Kingdom, HRH Ehidiamen I, to chart ways forward for the community social economic development.

During the gathering, the Onojie welcomed his subjects to the meeting and informed them that the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital has established an annex in Opoji Community to provide health Care Services to the people in the community.

According to the Onojie, “Health is priceless and on this ground the Irrua Specialist Hospital has started an annex here. A Doctor has been assigned to man the facility and will be on ground for consultations on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays,” He said.

The Onojie further informed the gathering that the annex requires a standard operation theater and other facilities for effective operation and to bring the health facility to standard. This requires the sum of ten million naira to actualize. Government cannot do this alone and thus this project requires community self help innitiative”, he disclosed.

To demonstrate his commitment to the health project, the Onojie donated the sum of three hundred thousand naira to support the project.

Opoji Indigenes present at the gathering include: Chief Francis Inegbeniki (the Uzoya of Esanland) who was represented by Mr. Theophilus Osegba, Hon Patrick Ikhariale (Former Member of House of Representatives). Both Opoji Sons lauded the health facility initiative and promised to take a tour of the facility and see how they can support the project.

Another Opoji Son, Chief Amos Jack who was unavoidably absent at the gathering phoned in and promised to send in his donations saying he will join hands with Inegbeniki and the Onojie to see that the hospital is brought to standard for the benefit of the people.

The Onojie said he will call on the Governor of Edo State Mr Godwin Obaseki to come to the rescue of Opoji Kingdom to fix the bad roads in the Kingdom as they have turned to death traps.

In his closing remark, the Onojie called on all children of Opoji to make good use of the health facility because the center was built for them.

The people of Opoji in response thanked their king for the great innitiatives and promised unanimously to always be ready to support the Onojie in his zeal to create a better and greater Opoji the light Kingdom.
