POLICE SUMMONS EDOROR…a complete mockery of the Media

By: Marvelous Oseyomon

I write to clear the air with respect to a fabricated report by an unknown writer of a report claiming that Edo state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammed Dan-Mallam has invited Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror, Deputy Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, EDHA, for allegedly orchestrating attack on Edo Legislators’ quarters.

The report is false, fake, unfounded and a calculated attempt to stir up acrimony amongst the members of Edo state House of Assembly.

The fictitious report that has no by-line (name of the author) on it, no response from Rt. Hon. Edoror, Deputy Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, EDHA, to balance the report, no release, or correspondence from the Commissioner of Police to the Deputy Speaker, made a complete mockery of Journalism.

It is a fact that, on Thursday, 11th April 2019, the naming ceremony of Rt. Hon. Victor Edoror’s baby came up at his lodge in the Legislators’ quarters, and was attended by several well meaning people in the state, including Hon. Barr. Anselm Ojezua the Edo state APC Chairman, Hon. Waziri Edokpa, Chairman, Esan Central Local Government area, Hon. Emmanuel Agbale, Edo state Commissioner for Education and several honourable members of EDHA, including Rt. Hon. Osadebamen Asoro, Hon. Okunbor, Hon. Monday Ehighalua, Hon. Foly Ogedengbe Rt. Hon Bright Osayande, Hon. Sunday Aghedo, Hon. Chris Okaeben, Hon. Damian Lawani, Hon. Ganiyu Audu, Hon. Kingsley Ugabi, amongst others.
However, as the guests were celebrating the birth of the new born baby, sporadic shooting was heard from the Speaker’s lodge, which is the next lodge to the Deputy Speaker’s, perhaps to scare the guests away hence abruptly end the celebration. The celebrating guests were not however perturbed by the shooting, rather, they went on with their celebration. A couple of minutes later, a team of policemen and officers of the Anti Robbery Squad stormed the Legislators’ quarters, came into the lodge of the Deputy Speaker, and met that, contrary to the report, they received, there was no shooting, but celebration.
One of the Aides to Rt. Hon Adjoto, the Speaker, who pleaded to be anonymous, later revealed that it was the Speaker, Edo state House of Assembly, Mr. Kabiru Adjoto that ordered the policemen attached to him to do the shooting, and as the shooting was going on, made a call to the Commissioner of Police telling him that it was coming from the Deputy Speaker’s lodge.
In his words; ‘…this man is an enemy of progress. It was Adjoto that called the police after ordering the security men attached to him to do the shooting…I never knew what his intention was until I saw police vehicles in front of the Speaker’s lodge…he is a sadist. He hate to see people happy…’

Again, the writer of the said story, also reported that; ‘…Rt. Hon. Edoror was not supposed to be found within the precinct of the Legislative complex and the quarters…’ This is another glaring misinformation, as the purported impeachment of Edoror lacks the locus standi to be taken seriously, as it was a kangaroo impeachment that was not supported by two-third of the members of the House, and in spite of the order given to Adjoto, after due investigation, by the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, that the House should revert to status quo, in a letter duely signed by Edo state APC Chairman, Adloto was defiant. The case is however in court; where they have been pleading for settlement outside court because of their lack of evidence to substantiate their purported impeachment.

More so, the Speaker has no power to suspended any member, let alone suspend the Deputy Speaker, as clearly shown in the court case between Godwin Adenomo Versus Kabiru Adjoto when the former, Hon. Adenomo was purportedly suspended by the Speaker of the House.

In all of these, it is enough to say that: a drowning man, will hold on to any reed, and a wounded beast can go all out to wreck havoc on others.
