Prince Philip, the lifelong companion of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, has died, Buckingham Palace announced Friday. He was 99. He married then-Princess Elizabeth in 1947 and was the longest-serving consort in British history. He will be remembered for his charitable work, his dedication to public service and, of course, his mischievous and controversial sense of humor.
