The Vatican said Monday that the Catholic Church would not bless same-sex unions. The stance is certain to disappoint millions of gay and lesbian Catholics around the world. Pope Francis, who has frequently been praised for his welcoming tone towards LGBTQ people both within and outside the Church, approved the note.

This article has been corrected to reflect that the statement from the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith did not refer to homosexuality itself as a “sin” and “a choice.” A previous post has been deleted.

  1. We don’t need your antiquated religious beliefs you don’t speak for God God is everywhere get off my lawn

  2. All while covering up children murdered, sex abuse, rampant gay sex parties in the basement of the Vatican. So hypocritical!

  3. In my humble opinion, which may mean nothing to you… “You don’t need religion to have a spiritual RELATIONSHIP with God” please read that again and let it sink in. Hope that helps with anyone struggling with this. 🙏🏼 God loves you!!

  4. Coming from a group of people that won’t address the child abuse their members have caused, we will be ok without it!

  5. But you can touch little boys and girls. Catholic Church and the Vatican are a joke. How are they even still relevant today?

  6. Who gives a crap what the Vatican thinks? Life’s too short. Love who you wanna love & live however you want to live. It’s your life, not the Vatican’s.

  7. I think the days of looking for religious validation are coming to an end regarding relationships. Love who you love
