Two Aspirants Step Down For A Youth, Idris Aregbe Ahead APC Council Primaries Today

Two aspirants out of six people competing for Surulere Local Government chairmanship seat under All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos chapter, have decided to step down their ambition and put their weight behind Idris Aregbe, @idrisconnectinglagos_ who they believe would represent their interests, should he emerge as the party’s candidate during forthcoming primaries

Speaking exclusively to The Guild through telephone, Balogun, said it is time for the youth.

He appealed to other APC leaders within Surulere to consider giving Aregbe and other youths the needed platform to serve Nigeria, especially at a public office.

He said: “I believe that it is time for youth to assume leadership positions across Surulere. And we have to support the youth to assume leadership with ease. I have done my part because I want development for Lagos particularly my council, Surulere. I hope that our leaders will also follow this path that I have toed.

On his part, Idris Aregbe appealed to his supporters including the youths to eschew violence and conduct themselves peacefully during and after the primaries.
“Everything that we need to do to push our campaign forward has been done. And the support received from the great people of Surulere including my fellow aspirants has further boosted my confidence that victory is certain.

Though there are indications that some people who consider themselves as godfather of Surulere are trying to impose a man who has been in local government council for 27 years as APC candidate and once again scuttle the chance of having a youth at the helms of affairs. Aregbe, said it is no retreat, no surrender.

‘It is not a do or die affairs for me as a young man but I am willing to challenge the system and put my ideas to test on an elective platform. So, we will do all within our power legally to challenge those who think it is their birthright to chose candidates for people of Surulere’

So, will a youth finally get to be the chairmanship candidate for SPC in Surulere local government as the party hold its primaries today across Lagos State? Only time will tell.
