With the present state of the nation, this is definitely a breath of fresh air especially as technology is an enabler across all sectors. We cannot overestimate the importance of driving digital transformation, this is the future, and it’s good to know Nigeria is not taking a back seat.
Microsoft, partnering with the Federal Government, will equip 5million Nigerians with digital skills in 3 years and it is anchored on connectivity, skilling, and digital transformation
In January 2021, VP Osinbajo had a virtual meeting with the Microsoft Corporation President, Mr. Brad Smith, where discussions covered areas of intersection between technology and governance to enhance Nigeria’s digital transformation.
The project will create jobs and there will be internet connection for under-served communities in 6 geopolitical zones.
The launch of the Microsoft partnership is a critical component of FG’s objective of expanding broadband connectivity, which is by itself, a major pillar of our Economic Sustainability Plan in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The multiplier effect of the Microsoft partnership will bring opportunities in rural and urban areas to many young people and will help us deal with unemployment problems made worse by the pandemic.
Leveraging Microsoft’s Technology tools which can be deployed to minimize governance risks and block loopholes, working with the EFCC, FG seeks to use cutting-edge analytical and case management tools to plug holes in the public sector system as well as confront white-collar criminality efficiently.
On his part, the President of Microsoft Corporation, Mr Brad Smith said “we believe in the future of Nigeria and we are excited as a company to add to our investments. It is a country we have had the opportunity to get to know better over the last few years.”
This partnership has come as a result of discussions the VP held in January 2021 with the Microsoft Corporation President, Mr. Brad Smith. He is very pleased to see that within a very short time, they have moved from ideas to implementation.
